The Open Your Art Studio
Open Your Art’s team of instructors invites you into the studio to share their own professional art practices. Open Your Art is a Mixed Media Studio that is dedicated to being intergenerational, truly accessible, and inclusive. We focus on finding safe entry points for equity-deserving groups in the community.

Programs run between September- June every year. Register ANYTIME-start and stop on your own schedule.
8 session passes are flexible and can be used whenever throughout the year! (except for Pottery)

Student work is featured yearly in an art show for families and friends to enjoy with the community at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre’s own Penney Gallery!

The Beginner Experience
Students are encouraged to move at their own pace, explore textures, and follow curiosity wherever it leads. Each week offers a new sensory experience—clay, paint, collage, natural materials—where there’s no “wrong way” to make art.
Our instructors support each student’s unique creative process, providing gentle structure for those who need it and open-ended freedom for those who thrive on experimentation.
The Intermediate Experience
Intermediate and returning students will have the opportunity to lead their own program by choosing from over 100 Open Your Art curriculum projects in our studio library to customize within their chosen media. Leadership skills in the art community begin as students learn to build a portfolio, develop a cohesive body of work/create with a theme, prepare for and participate in a group art show, print a book, and design a ware.
